Helgoland 2011

Faisal's avatarINTRO-MISSION

As part of General Geoscience lab, I had to go to Helgoland for a 3 day excursion. Helgoland is a very tiny island, 70 km from the coast of Germany. It is famous for a number of reasons. It is full of bunkers which the German used for storage of ammunition in the second world war. It was supposed to be a submarine base then. It is famous among geologist for the kind of rock it has: same rock in which oil and gas is found. It is famous among biologist for all the different species it houses. Lastly, and this one was very important for my friends, it is famous for being completely Duty Free. 🙂

Here is a panorama I created on the top most part of the island.
